The number of Brazilians older than 10 years of age that normally access the internet reached 56 million people last year. This number represents a 75.3% high in comparison to the 31.9 million people that accessed the internet in 2005. The data was released today by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) and is enclosed in the study, “Internet Access and Possession of mobile phone for personal use”.
The growth in internet access expanded the slice of normal users above the age of 10 to 34.8% of the Brazilian population. In 2005 20.9% of the population regularly used the internet.
